Spokane, Washington is home to those who love adventure, featuring many lakes, Mount Spokane, and Spokane Hoopfest, the world’s largest 3on3 basketball tournament.

Residents at Avamere at South Hill also join in on the adventure spirit that resides in Spokane. Several residents enjoy starting their day with a 30-minute weight class.

“Many of the residents really enjoy the work out, and they can notice a difference from attending the class,” said Ken Alexander, Executive Director at Avamere at South Hill.

When the staff first introduced this activity, only a few residents showed up. Now after only a few months, they have as many as 13 residents attend the weight class!

Another popular activity brings out the creative side in residents. During a step-by-step painting class, residents learn about color and how to compose a painting. They proudly display their art on the wall for other residents and visitors to admire.

Another resident favorite is live music.

“Whether it is bells, steel drums, a country singer, or a jazz band, you can be sure that there are 30 or more residents enjoying the music,” Ken shared.
